Robert and Joanne Simpsons' contributions to tropical meteorology
William M. Gray, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO
Robert and Joanne Simpson have made a wide variety of important contributions to hurricane and tropical meteorology understanding and application during their over six decades of work in the field. They have exercised major leadership. They have encouraged, inspired and mentored many younger colleagues who have come along and made important contributions and grown into leadership positions of their own.

This talk will discuss some of the Simpsons' many scientific and personal contributions and give a number of personal insights and stories I have gathered over my 45 years association with them.
