THE AGE OLD PROBLEM FOR OCEAN MODELLING IS"WHAT FORCING TO USE." WE HAVE DEVELOPED AND TESTED SEVERAL ATMOSPHERIC MESOSCALE MODELS with and without SEAWINDS for QUIKSCAT .

WE USE A GULF OF MEXICO MODEL ( NCOM) TO VALIDDATE THE WIND PRODUCTS.IT IS FOUND THAT A COMBINATION OF A MESOSCALE MODEL AND THE WINDS FROM SPACE GIVE SUPERIOR RESULTS.

SEAWIND PRODUCTS NEED MORE FREQUENT COVERAGE BUT HAVE EXCELLENT SPATIAL COVERAGE. FOR FRONTS AND ACCURATE PLACEMENT OF STORMS. MESOSCALE MODLES ARE VERY WEAK OVER THE OCEAN IN OUR EXPERIENCE.
