The Future of Data Dissemination—Our Role as Broadcast Meteorologists in the 21st Century

Dave Jones, NBC4 WRC-TV, Washington, DC

Goal of Talk: To identify various technologies that allows us to reach more people when it comes to issuing forecasts and warnings of severe weather. What stations are implementing and what we better prepare for to maintain and even increase our value as broadcast meteorologists.

I will also discuss the impact of the Internet on our core product. Will broadcasting be the same in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, etc? What can we do to increase our value as broadcast meteorologists as time marches on and technology evolves? Some food for thought will also be presented.
