MESOWEST: Cooperative Weather Networks in the Western United States
John D. Horel, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT; and M. Splitt
MesoWest - Cooperative Weather Networks in the Western U.S.- provides real-time access to weather information at over 1800 weather stations throughout the western United States. Over fifty government agencies and commercial firms contribute data. This network was formerly called the Utah Mesonet, but outgrew this name as data providers from across the West have joined. MesoWest information is used by forecasters of the National Weather Service and is available to the public, including educational institutions. For further information, see http://www.met.utah.edu/mesonet.
