An investigation of the structure of Hurricane Danielle (1998) using HRD dropwindsondes

On 29-30 August 1998 the Hurricane Research Division flew two missions into Hurricane Danielle. At this time Danielle was a small weak hurricane. During the first mission the storm was not well organised. An eyewall, which was open to the NW, started to form during the flight. During the second mission the eyewall convection was vigourous and became more organised. Numerous eyewall drops were made during both missions. This paper uses the data from the dropwindsondes to investigate the structure of Danielle during this time period.
