ATMOSPHERIC EDUCATION RESOURCE AGENTS- TRAINING FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Faye McCollum, Georgia AERA - DataStreme Project, Columbus, GA

The consistent success of the Atmospheric Education Resource Agent/Project Atmospheric Program is directly related to the training and interaction of its participant leaders. Training sessions feature topics of current meteorological interests and recent developments in the field of Atmospheric Sciences. Expert directors and consultants in these areas instruct and interact with AERA's in promoting the acquisition of knowledge and applications that may be shared with teachers in their respective states. Topics such as El Nino, Science Standards, Technology and Research Developments serve as vital components to the success of the AMS educational initiatives. This program will feature highlights of AERA Training Sessions that impact and promote weather education in communities and schools throughout the United States.
