John P. Garthner, FNMOC, Monterey, CA; and R. L. Loveless, J. Korcal, and C. D. Thormeyer

The Joint Meteorology/Oceanography (METOC) Viewer, an internet-based multi-platform client-server applications suite, has been operational worldwide throughout the Department of Defense (DoD) for over two years. Now, with over 1000 DoD users downloading collectively over 100,000 METOC products daily, a major client upgrade called JMV 3.0 has been implemented as a result of customer feedback. Included in the upgrade is a redesign of the main interface, along with enhanced analysis and forecasting capabilities. These enhancements permit JMV to be a multi-tasking tool. Added capabilities include high wind and seas warning generation, optimum ship and aircraft routing, satellite looping, and automated graphics creation for external WEB support
