As it is known, there are some illnesses that are highly weather related.
Specially, some medical emergencies could be dependent on the weather situation.
All over the world, there are various investigations that worked on these topics, however, in Argentina few has been done round this biometeorological aspect.
We aim to relate the emergency room assistance to weather conditions, mainly in some special sicknesses. We started this work by preparing the medical database from the emergency books, as they were not in electronic support. We have taken into consideration two seasons, summer and winter, and the total daily assistance to a general private hospital in Buenos Aires city. This hospital assists middle-class people.
We have analysed the series of total assistances, and also separated them into different diagnostic groups, such as cerebrovascular, respiratories, influenza or blood diseases. Harmonic analysis has applied to for understanding the medical series behaviors and the correlations with weather also performed. The meteorological variables have been treated separately and multiple regression has been constructed. The synoptic conditions of the weather situations have been depicted for a better discrimination of their relationship with medical data.
