LESSONS LEARNED ON BALLOON INFLATION AND LAUNCH SHELTERS
Richard A. Petersen, NOAA/NWS, Silver Spring, MD; and W. H. Blackmore
The National Weather Service constructed 4 prototype Balloon Inflation and Launch Shelters. These shelters were subjected to extensive field testing under a wide range of weather conditions. Some of these shelters are currently deployed at operational sites. This paper discussed the lessons learned during the last four years on semi-automated and fully-automated radiosonde launches.
