This paper presents the Software Configuration Management (SCM) system of the FSL FX-Advanced project, and how it supports the software development process of the project. This practical case study describes the SCM operational aspects of the FX-Advanced development process. Those aspects are: software identification, software control, software status accounting, software audit and review, software problem tracking and the software release process. We provide a comprehensive illustration of how our in-house development tools are used, and how they apply to the these SCM operational aspects. The tools are based on the public domain software Baseline Control System (BCS), tkgnats (bug tracking system) and GNU make. The discussion concludes with other related issues such as trade-offs, improvements, and special challenges
