I'll present my experiences in assigning projects requiring undergraduate freshman to create web pages with various types of content. The assignments range from a bare-bones web page, to an assessment of the potential for acid rain within a specified region, to an analysis of trends in a meteorological time series. I'll discuss the motivation for the switch from paper to electronic assignments, and will show examples of student-created web pages. I'll present the methods used to teach students how to create and design web pages, and will discuss the benefits (and costs) of this approach and some lessons learned from these experiences
