BEEN THERE, DONE THAT- EXPERIENCES AND TIPS FOR K - 12 PEER TRAINING

Michael J. Passow, White Plains Middle School, White Plains, NY

K - 12 teachers working with AMS Education Programs are "charged" to "infiltrate" weather and ocean education topics into as many formats as possible. This poster display shares some of the experiences Peer Trainers in the New York/New Jersey region have had as they reach out to various audiences. These include: students, district staff development, state and national educational conferences, nature centers, special-interest clubs, and other groups.
Photographs and examples of materials prepared for Project Atmosphere, Maury Project, and DataStreme training sessions demonstrate some of the ways in which AMS Education Program products have reached students, teachers, and the general public. Use of e-mail, list-servers, and other communication systems linking Peer Trainers will be displayed. Included also are tips to deal with problems that may arise once training ends and presentations begin
