It has been shown that existing footprint models work relatively well over short canopies. However, they still have to be tested over a tall rough canopy. A turbulence tracer experiment was conducted over an orchard canopy in order to validate various footprint (source weighting function) formulations. The release line was located inside the canopy at the zero plane displacement height. Vertical SF6 fluxes were measured using an eddy correlation technique at four distances downwind from the line source. Measurements were carried out at twice canopy height. Mean one hour SF6 fluxes were compared to fluxes predicted by the model for different stability regimes. Results are discussed.
