A POTATO CANOPY HUMIDITY MODEL DRIVEN BY GOES AND ASOS/AWOS DATA

William L. Bland, Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison, WI; and M. C. Anderson and G. R. Diak

Within-canopy conditions of temperature and relative humidity are essential inputs for foliar disease warning schemes, but in-situ measurements are costly and difficult for growers to make. As a result, researchers have worked to model these conditions from edge-of-field and regional weather measurements. We developed a one-dimensional model of canopy conditions that exploits data from GOES and ASOS/AWOS.
