585 An Update on the use of METplus at the Naval Research Laboratory

This presentation will overview the multiple current NRL efforts that use METPlus based verification. This discussion will focus mainly on atmospheric NWP verification for the current NAVy Global Environmental Model (NAVGEM) and how METPlus based diagnostics are being used to assess the performance of the next generation prediction system Navy Environmental Prediction sysTem Utilizing a Nonhydrostatic Engine (NEPTUNE). Ongoing efforts of using METPlus for high altitude, aerosol, and cloud verification will be discussed along with our current strategy for scorecard expansion. We will also discuss our plans for METPlus usage in the future, including potential opportunities for collaboration within the broader community.
