Title: Transition to Operations Culture Change when Migrating to the Cloud

Abstract:

To leverage all of the scalability and tools that improve science and operations in the cloud and deliver more value to the NOAA user community, the culture of how the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) does business needs to change. Further, agile and DevSecOps processes offer new ways to do business that will facilitate streamlined ways of working to deploy products and services. To achieve maximum value for the products that NESDIS, the Office of Satellite Ground Services (OSGS) is leading the effort to deliver this value via the NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF). OSGS works closely with all the stakeholders involved in the development, transition to operations, sustainment and operations processes within the cloud environment and is continually optimizing research to operations transition processes to deliver more value to stakeholders. This presentation will discuss our approach to leading culture change within NESDIS and with the user community, the status of work to date, and the opportunities for collaboration in the future.
