Abstract
The National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service (NESDIS) is moving to an enterprise ground capability in the cloud, taking advantage of the increased flexibility and scalability that the technology offers. NESDIS developed its Common Cloud framework (NCCF) from piloted demonstrations that evolved to become operational in May 2021. This enterprise ground systems development is being led by the Office of Common Services (OCS) and is following the Scale Agile Framework with agile teams organized to support Dev/Sec/Ops approach. The NCCF is being implemented in the AWS public cloud with FedRamp compliant services with high security controls. The NCCF provides several enterprise services including data Ingest, compute (algorithm processing), storage, archive and dissemination and access services to support requirements across NESDIS and NESDIS’s customers. This presentation will describe the current service capabilities, and details on the current execution. This brief will also share the roadmap of activities that OCS is planning to continue to grow and improve the NCCF to meet organizational challenges.
