The Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS), built by Ball Aerospace, provides key ozone monitoring data that contributes to the US’s obligation for the Montreal Protocol. The third OMPS build launched aboard the JPSS-2 (now NOAA-21) satellite in November 2022 and has successfully entered its operational state. The fourth and fifth builds slated for the JPSS-3 and JPSS-4 satellites are currently going through ground testing at facilities in Arizona and Colorado in preparation for launches in 2027 and 2032. Improvements to the OMPS series of instruments have been made over the course of these builds to maximize the science return. Presented here is the OMPS instrument aboard the JPSS-2/3/4 series of satellites detailing key improvements and cross-build comparisons.
