Session Trustworthy, Responsible, and Ethical AI

Description:

In conjunction with the overall AMS 2024 theme of LIVING IN A CHANGING ENVIRONMENT, we propose a session focusing on the development of trustworthy, responsible, and ethical AI for a variety of weather and climate applications. The development and use of AI is exploding across all areas of science, especially for weather, water, and climate.  As the environment is changing, it is critical that such AI methods are developed to ensure they are trustworthy and meet the needs of the end-users.

We seek submissions from all researchers who are working to ensure that their AI is trustworthy and/or who are studying the responsible and ethical applications of AI for weather, water, and climate.  There is a separate joint session with the 19TH SYMPOSIUM ON SOCIETAL APPLICATIONS: POLICY, RESEARCH AND PRACTICE that focuses on the communication and societal aspects of AI.  This session focuses on the AI methods and approaches to ensure they are trustworthy, responsible, or ethically developed and deployed.

Submission Deadline: Thursday, 31 August 2023
