Session Tropical-Extratropical Interactions and MJO Teleconnections

Description:

The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) has a host of significant global teleconnections that alter circulation patterns, affect a wide range of climate phenomena, and are important sources of subseasonal-to-seasonal predictability. MJO teleconnections and extra-tropical signals or processes can further influence the tropical atmosphere and the MJO itself. We invite presentations spanning theoretical, observational, and modeling studies of MJO teleconnections, as well as work exploring extratropical impacts on the MJO. We further welcome broader topics related to interactions between the tropics and the extratropics, especially on intra-seasonal timescales, but which may include other forms of tropical convective variability.
