Description:
Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) show great potential to improve our ability to better understand the environmental system and provide critical information and services for society to address environmental challenges. However, we need to improve AI literacy for the weather, water, and climate enterprise workforce and the general public to take full advantage of these rapidly evolving technologies. This session topic welcomes contributions of diverse methods to improve AI literacy for the workforce and the general public. Examples of the contributions include but are not limited to:
- Development of curriculums and courses for responsible AI/ML integration into environmental science applications.
- Interactive self-learning materials (e.g., computational notebooks demonstrating Python, R, and other programming languages).
- Innovative approaches for workforce development around AI literacy
- Efforts to increase the diversity of the workforce with AI literacy
We also welcome contributions that provide short demonstrations or interactive activities that are relevant to the session topic.
