Description:
In recent decades, the scientific community has made considerable progress in understanding, modeling, and forecasting tropical subseasonal convective variability and its global interactions (e.g., tropical waves, the MJO, monsoons, tropical-extratropical teleconnections, etc.). Still, considerable challenges remain and new aspects of research on subseasonal convective phenomena continue to emerge. Addressing these issues increasingly requires collaboration across observational, modeling, and theoretical efforts. We invite presentations that summarize historical challenges and progress, assess our current understanding and capabilities, identify pressing open questions, and offer visions for how to address major or new challenges. We welcome presentations from the entire research-to-operations spectrum. In order to accommodate summary presentations, both 15 and 30 minute formats will be considered. We request that authors indicate the length best suited for their presentation in their abstract submission.
Submission Deadline: Thursday, 31 August 2023
