Session The impact of climate variability and change on renewable energy generation

Description:

The United States, in its commendable and pioneering pursuit of renewable energy, has taken significant strides by establishing wind farms in the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) to produce offshore wind energy. Despite the challenges posed by various climate factors, such as changes in the strength, speed, and temperature of the deep water and western boundary currents. These modifications could shift how the atmospheric and oceanic process currently works.

The nation's unwavering commitment to wind energy drives us to find innovative solutions to these challenges. We will examine what steps we should take to address these challenges and pave the way for a more sustainable future.  (e.g., air/sea heat and momentum fluxes, wave / current interactions) on hub-height wind fields.
