Leadership in Science: How Effective Leaders can Inspire a Workforce, Enhance Innovation, and Save Lives

Description:

Advancements in science and the resulting positive impact they have on shaping the world around us depend on the leadership provided to people within an organization or company. Scientific leaders play a vital role in driving progress through research and innovation. It is through meaningful teamwork, collaboration, and diversity of thought that we see the greatest transformations that can have sweeping impacts globally.

As an Enterprise, it is imperative that we not only work together to improve weather, water, and climate science and service but that we support those within our charge who are dedicating their life to the advancements within the field, without which real change would not occur.  Therefore, it is key that we sharpen our minds through new knowledge and skills within science as well as ensure we support leadership development.  Leadership is not just a role, it's a commitment that should be leveraged to motivate and inspire teamwork to achieve a common goal.  Leadership in Science empowers diverse teams and inclusive cultures that provide supportive energy and commitment so all members can contribute their best and enhance scientific innovation.  The collective mindset of an organization influences its culture and performance which can have rippling effects on the betterment of the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise and the diverse communities they serve worldwide.

Within this session, we will hear from a diverse panel of prestigious Leaders as they share their best practices for fostering an inclusive workplace, leading innovative teams, perspectives on what makes an effective leader, as well as opinions on how anyone, no matter their position, can lead. The impact of such a session will serve as a reminder that what connects us is our desire to advocate for weather, water and climate science through leadership and humanity.  Once we recognize this universal truth, we can then see the power of leading and supporting our workforce and those within this Enterprise, which will result in better serving the communities around us, and likely save lives.
