Session Digital and Operational Climate Information to Support Resilient Infrastructure Planning and Design

Description:

The growing understanding of present and future climate impacts, including extreme events, demands ever-expanding climate data and information for real-world design, operation, and decision-making throughout critical infrastructure's lifespan. Many robust partnerships have been developed between researchers, engineers, planners, resource managers, corporations, decision makers, and communities to respond to these multi-dimensional digital and operational demands. In this session, we would like to highlight presentations on assessing and meeting digital and operational climate information and socio-economic needs to support equitable, inclusive, and data-driven engineering planning, design, operations, and decision making for a wide variety of applications. We aim to showcase co-developed solutions (e.g., revised manuals of practice, updated engineering standards, necessary data resources and workflows, and new analyses, analytics, and syntheses for the design and construction of methods and management practices) that empower effective engineering and scientific enterprises for all members of our society. We welcome abstracts that accelerate equitable and inclusive designs and practices for historically underserved and socioeconomically vulnerable communities.
