Vertical Structure and propagating Character of the Decadal Variability of Pacific Ocean Temperature
Zhihong Jiang, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China
Vertical structure and propagation character of Pacific ocean temperature decadal variation is investigated using Maryland Ocean Data Assimilation analysis datasets. The result shows that the vertical structure of Pacific decadal variation has the relationship with the stratification of ocean temperature. The level with remarkable decadal temperature variation corresponds with the position of thermocline. The propagating character of Pacific ocean temperature is exhibited that the decadal signal from Pacific windows region propagate western southward along subduction route, and the decadal signal from western southern Pacific get across equator and move toward eastern north, but whether the two signals can meet lies on whether the signal from central north pacific can get across 30°N. Meanwhile the two signals both have the character of propagating along the way that has the most temperature variation with depth, which indicate that subduction route has the relationship with the structure of thermocline.
