Session 5.2 Operational aspects of the Wyoming Weather Modification Pilot Project: an update

Weather Modification, Inc. (WMI) is responsible for the conduct of the cloud seeding operations of the five-year Wyoming Weather Modification Pilot Project (WWMPP). In addition, WMI is also is engaged in data collection by aircraft, sounding, and microwave radiometer, to be used in eventual physical evaluations. The operational efforts of the first half of the project are summarized. These include environmental work, and the deployment and operation of twenty-four remote-controlled ground-based ice nucleus generators, a dual-channel microwave radiometer, an upper air sounding system, and a multipurpose cloud physics, aerosol-sampling, and seeding Piper Cheyenne II turboprop aircraft. Work to date, including seeding activities, will be summarized and tentative plans for the 2008-2009 season presented.
