This paper will discuss the myths and possible caused of lightning among Kenyan tribes. There are 44 tribes in Kenya and each one has a unique belief on what causes fire from the heaven to consume man and property. Selected tribes shall be studied with possible remedial suggestions. The paper seeks to understand why the communities do not believe on any other preventive mechanisms, because catastrophes are God made and must be cured with special preventive belief. The reason will explain why modern preventive devices are readily adopted. Issues of tree planting and environmental concerns will be highlighted. The paper will add value to the traditional knowledge that exists in Kenyan communities. Modern science shall explain the use of ancestor's knowledge. The lightning protective belief will be discussed.
