StormCenter is working to advance the use of JPSS and other NOAA data by decisionmakers and others, particularly in two of the JPSS Proving Ground and Risk Reduction Initiatives: Fire & Smoke and River, Ice & Flooding. Our initiative work is focused on putting JPSS products to work that can improve situational awareness and decision making across state, federal, and NGO operations. To do this, we are integrating JPSS data into GeoCollaborate®, which is a Federal Government Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III technology designed to enable cross-platform real-time data sharing in a collaborative environment. Collaborative environments and real-time dashboards are being tested with decision-making teams at organizations such as the National Weather Service Fire Weather Program in Boise, ID, the NWS Alaska Region, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the All Hazards Consortium (AHC) which includes emergency managers and investor-owned utilities across the nation. Feedback is being collected to further improve how JPSS data meets the needs of traditional and non-traditional users. This effort is an excellent example of accelerating research to operations (R2O) and operations to research (O2R) processes and improving efficiencies and use when it comes to JPSS satellite applications and innovation. The GeoCollaborate® JPSS Dashboard will be demonstrated briefly in this presentation within the context of Data Driven Decision Making (3DM).
