The GOES-16 ABI L1b product reached Full Validation maturity on June 1, 2018. This milestone includes full documentation of the product performance over a full range of representative conditions via ongoing validation and characterization efforts. The results of these characterization efforts were compared to the outcomes of pre-launch testing, known as the Performance Baseline. In a few cases, the performance of the GOES-16 ABI L1b products did not meet the predictions set forth by the Performance Baseline, or have otherwise fell short of user expectations. These include a radiometric biases, low-level striping of various types and root causes in some bands, stray light effects, and a few other instrumental or processing artifacts. In this talk, we will describe these product issues, the remedies applied to mitigate them. For the cases where mitigation is not needed or practical, we will describe the phenomenology for user awareness.
