The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the United States Meteorological Authority for Aviation to the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). As such, the FAA establishes policy, procedures, and requirements for aviation weather information within the U.S. National Airspace System. The FAA has made significant changes to developing requirements, engaging users and stakeholders of aviation weather information, and further communicating those changes and requirements to the National Weather Service and other weather information providers, and stakeholders. This presentation will highlight several current initiatives within the FAA and partner agencies to improve the provision of aviation weather services for the improved safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System.
