The National Weather Service (NWS) is developing Hazard Services, an innovative new software application to produce the watch, warning, and advisory products that define the NWS mission. It will consolidate the hazard generation functions of three existing applications, providing a unified interface and more efficient workflow for NWS forecasters. Hazard services will also provide a flexible software framework for the NWS to develop the next generation of products and services.

Hazard Services is nearing its initial deployment to the Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs) and is scheduled for full deployment into NWS operations in early 2020. The first phase of the operational software will produce the NWS suite of hydrologic products. The remaining hazard types will be added incrementally, beginning with winter weather hazards later in 2020. New hazard types will continue to be added until the entire NWS product suite is migrated to Hazard Services in 2022.
