In 2018, the Board for Early Career Professionals (BECP), along with the Board for Women and Minorities (BWM), helped launched the inaugural Early Career Leadership Academy (ECLA), which aimed to build and sustain a diverse network of early career leaders in the weather, water, and climate enterprise. Over 30 young professionals were invited to attend the in-person event alongside the AMS Washington Forum in April of 2018.

On Monday, January 7th, we will be hosting a follow up session titled “The Early Career Leadership Academy: Beyond Leadership into Mentorship.” The aim of this session is to reflect on the 2018 academy, address leadership issues in the workplace, and provide mentorship to students and early careers. We hope to leverage both reputable leaders of the enterprise, as well as the 2018 ECLA members who are now considered ambassadors to the program.
