Amanda Quintana, U.S. Global Change Research Program, Washington, DC; NOAA, Silver Spring, MD; National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD; and H. M. Jones and J. Balbus

The U.S. Global Change Research Program’s Interagency Crosscutting Group on Climate Change and Human Health is coordinating the initial development of draft health outlooks based on NOAA’s national seasonal forecasts. The Climate and Health Monitor Outlook, or CHMO, seeks to use available Subseasonal-to-Seasonal (S2S) predictions and available health data to assess potential associated climate-related health risks and eventually to use these outlooks to inform public health workers, providers, and the general public. This session will present the development process, current research related to mapping climate information and related health impacts, and show a sample draft climate and health outlook bulletin to solicit feedback on the product’s ongoing development.
