Session #51814 – “A Survey of Observational Needs for the Weather Enterprise”

At the AMS Annual Meeting in 2016 AMS President Dr. Fredrick Carr led a meeting-wide survey of all sessions to document and collect the observational needs represented across the weather enterprise. The results of that survey will be presented in this session by Dr. Carr. Following his presentation, I will be one of two speakers to present “next step solutions,” informed by the survey needs. As NOAA’s Director of the Office of Systems Architecture and Advanced Planning, NOAA/NESDIS, I will discuss NOAA’s response and short- to medium-term plans for evolving NOAA’s satellite observing system architecture.
