In 1980, Hydro-Quebec has developed his first electricity demand forecasting model. Weather forecast has been the main variable which drive the electricity demand forecast. In 2019, Hydro-Quebec uses 3 different electricity demand models and deterministic weather forecast for lead times from 1 to 10 days ahead. After introducing the structure of the demand forecasting model, we will expose the behavior of electricity demand in the province of Quebec and the different issues related to it and finally the accuracy requirements of weather variables and the sensibility results of the demand forecasting models.
