Flash floods are high-impact and complex hazards. They often linked to extensive damages and loss of life, especially in regions with poor infrastructure or limited coping strategies. There is substantial body of research on flash flood risk, but despite this, there are few links between suggested research-driven response and action. We conducted a systematic review to explore this issue and characterize the existing research on global flash flood vulnerability, risk, and exposure. Over 1000 papers drawn from Web of Science and grey literature were assessed as part of the review. Here, we will discuss our results including regional disparities in flash flood research and an assessment of global response to flash flood risk.
