Across the North Central United States the demand for climate services - the delivery of timely and authoritative data, products, and information - has been growing markedly in response to extreme events, economic and environmental impacts of climate variability and change and the recognition for information for hazard mitigation and resiliency planning. In response to this rise in demand for regional climate services NOAA, through their regional climate services directors and in partnership with the American Association of State Climatologists and the Regional Climate Centers has initiated a series of informational outreach activities aimed at specific sectors interests. Activities include monthly climate briefings prior to, during and following extreme climate events, quarterly regional climate summaries & outlooks (Missouri Basin, Great Lakes and Midwest), extreme climate event assessments and attribution reports. We will highlight these services and other activities that have made the regional climate services concept successful.
