Communicating with the media can be daunting! Communicating with the media on climate issues can be downright anxiety inducing! So what are best practices regarding participating in interviews with media regarding your science, products, and services? This presentation will cover best practices in preparing and conducting media interviews related to climate. Topics will include creating your key messages, understanding what type of interview you are doing, utilizing communication resources, and interview strategies. Rooted in adult education principles, the presentation will also address how visuals can assist in getting the biggest media reach related to the communication of any environmental science. The authors include communications specialists, engagement specialists, and scientists with extensive experience in climate science communications.
