Hart et al. (2005) presented synoptic composites of the various future evolutions of transitioning tropical cyclones. Those composites were based upon common cyclone phase space evolution in the post-tropical phase: cold-core intensification/decay, warm-seclusion, and fast/slow transitioners. This paper will present precipitation rate composites based upon the various cyclone phase composites in Hart et al. (2005). Both ERA40 and SSMI based composites are presented to illustrate the impact of dataset and resolution on the composites. The precipitation rate composites provide considerable insight into the various forcings driving ascent and precipitation within the respective cyclone phase space trajectories.
