In order to improve the intensity skill of the operational hurricane model at EMC (HWRF model), the sensitivity experiments are performed using various air-sea exchange coefficients including observation-based values. The test results indicate that the use of CBLAST observed enthalpy exchange coefficient and Powell's momentum exchange coefficient produce the most skillful intensity forecast. The improve the intensity forecast is not only result from reducing the bias but also from lower standard deviation, which suggest more consistent intensity forecast.
