The ADT has undergone significant upgrades during the last few years to improve upon existing techniques and implement new methodologies. New automated storm center determination algorithms have allowed the ADT to operate in a completely automated manner with confidence, while usage of externally-derived "eye score" information, utilizing passive microwave imagery to ascertain an eye structure hidden under the TC central dense overcast displayed in the IR imagery. In addition, the implementation of a new technique to derive MSLP from the derived Dvorak T# intensity value has provided more accurate pressure estimates. These improvements, along with additional research avenues currently being investigated, will be outlined and discussed.
