Is the tropical atmosphere in quasi-equilibrium?

The quasi-equilibrium hypothesis (QEH) plays an important role in modeling theoretically the tropical atmosphere and parameterizing deep convection in global climate models (GCMs). This study examines the validity of different types of QEH using long term observational datasets from the tropics.
