P3.4 On the dynamics of north African squall lines

The dynamics of north African squall lines is studied through a set of idealized cloud-resolving simulations of convection on an equatorial beta-plane. Results demonstrate the essential roles of tropospheric gravity waves, planetary rotation, and vertical shear of the background zonal flow.
