This paper will highlight the meteorology leading up to, and the dramatic effects resulting from, the Great Lakes Storm of 1913. The storm generated hurricane force wind on Lake Huron for twelve consecutive hours, capsizing a number of freighters...all of which down with all hands lost. It is truly one of the most powerful synoptic storms ever to affect the United States, and one of the worst maritime disasters in U.S. history.
