Contacting Congress: What, When, How

Doug Stone, American Meteorological Society, Washington, DC

This fifteen minute talk would focus on what AMS is doing in government relations and how we can help facilitate our members' efforts: what, when and how. Through audio visual and printed materials, as well as a short talk, Doug will discuss the kinds of issues we might address, when they should be raised, and the best ways to communicate your message on policy issues of interest to our field—in person, by e-mail, fax or letter. It's easier than you think; Congressional offices are eager to hear from you, and the AMS Government Relations Program Staff is more than willing to walk you through the process.
