General circulation model (GCM) simulations with approximately 50 km horizontal resolution have credible simulations of the climatology and variability in the number of tropical cyclones (TCs). However, there are differences between GCMs with tropical cyclone permitting resolution that may result from differences in parameterizations. Here, we systematically investigate the sensitivity to parameterizations in GCM simulations with spherical geometry and uniform thermal forcing. This model configuration simulates typically features widespread subtropical TC genesis and poleward beta drift, making it an useful configuration to assess the sensitivity of genesis to model representations of convection and radiation.
