GOES R+ User Requirements and Training

The authors will review current GOES (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite)capabilities and plans for future capabilities.

NOAA seeks increased interaction with broadcast meteorologists in an effort to provide access to advanced training and opportunities to gather, discuss and address user requirements from this important community.

Research and preparation for the next generation of GOES satellites has been underway for some time. Exciting new capabilities are planned and will result in new visualization tools and displays for detecting specific features on smaller spatial and temporal scales.
