Weather Radar Center (WRC) in Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) was install the Yong-In Testbed (YIT) radar to validate the dual-pol. variables and develop the techniques of S/W, H/W, maintenance for the operation of dual-pol. radar network on August 2014. And it was established the verification site for the calibration and analysis of the dual-pol. radar data in Jincheon located 28 km distance from YIT on March 2014. There are instruments of 2DVD (2-Dimensional Video Disdrometer), PARSIVELs (the laser-optical Particle Size Velocity), the tipping-bucket raingauges, the weighting raingagues to measure the size, amount of raindrop and investigate the characteristics of DSD (Drop-Size Distribution) about Korean rain system in verification site. WRC investigate the bias of the reflectivities (Z), differential reflectivities (ZDR)and experimented and verified algorithms of the radar rainfall estimation and hydrometeor classification using YIT radar and the instruments at the verification site from August to September on 2014. The bias of Z, ZDR was calculated the difference between 2DVD and YIT radar variables, and it was applied for radar rainfall estimation. And we also calculate our own equations (R(Z), R(Z, ZDR), R(ZDR, KDP)) for the radar rainfall estimation using 2DVD data. As a result, we realized that it was improved the accuracy of rainfall estimation when it was used the R(Z, ZDR) equation after bias correction as compared with other equations by using 2DVD data because this equation was made with the measurement data of DSD of Korean rainfall. However, we still have the issue the optimun of the rainfall estimation equation for using operation dual-pol. radar and improve of R(ZDR, KDP). And it can be improved by the continuous experiment using YIT on 2015.
