There is no denying mobile technology is reshaping how people consume information. A higher percentage of US adults owns a mobile phone than owns a computer, according to new data from the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project . Of those people buying phones, more of them will have smartphones than features phones by the end of 2011. This presentation will discuss the emergence of smartphone applications as advance warning devices for severe weather and a new patent pending application intended to supplement the traditional weather radio. This new application utilizes all of the benefits of a mobile phone including mobility, GPS, multimedia, etc., in order to provide the end user with more critical and relevant information than ever before possible through other technologies.
